Nintendo’s sales record home console successor has now an official release: end of 2012. Company president, Satoru Iwata, has confirmed that Wii U will have a global launch, although the exact date and prices aren’t still detailed.
Wii U’s first look maybe wasn’t the best way to convince possible clients, so Nintendo is planning a conference in the next E3 to explain all the functions the console is capable of, along with the launch games line up presentation.
As some companies have experimented with new development kits, famous game creators as Yoshinori Ono from Capcom hint that “what was shown at E3 (2011) is not a reflection of everything that this console is going to be able to offer”. So there’s still much to learn from Wii U, although in the meantime Nintendo has confirmed his new online system, Nintendo Network, capable of communication between users, DLC’s and the possibility of download retail games to the hard drive. Along with all of this, has been unveiled that the Wii U will use Near Field Communications (NFC) support, which enables wireless communication between the controller and other devices in close proximity. For instance, it could be possible to get downloadable content from cards or figures a la Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.
The next month are going to be specially loaded with news and speculation, so we’ll maintain you informed until Wii U is officially presented in the next E3.
